I hate Kendo

The holidays are here, finally!

The last days of school were hectic as usual, with all activities going on at the same time, homeworks overly due and teachers excessively telling students that the holidays are for doing homework and revising.

Part I

On Tuesday, we went back to run around JPMC. Mr Holland got permission for us to run there and we even had a picnic by the beach. AWESOMENESS!

Mr Holland all enthusiastic for the picnic. He's the tiny figure over in the picture.

I asked Mr Holland to take a picture so that I could take a picture of him taking a picture, haha. This one is for the website.

Then he gave us a little biology lesson on the crab that had a scorpion-ish tail (the type that pierce people if they step on it).

Checking to see if it was alive or not. I think it was just in a really deep sleep.

At least we had fun being camwhores.

Part II

It was the ECA promotion day and in the afternoon, club/society presidents and members set up their booths trying to persuade the bugglies (nickname for Juniors/Lower Six-ers) to join in their club/societies.

For the M1, pictures were posted up of the run and picnic and it was embarassing because of the two pictures taken of me. I managed to get hold of them for keeps after the promo day.

NB: I was not shock, I was posing for the camera.

For the Breast Cancer Awareness society, we had to do a little preparation. We made a banner and I collected a few informations for the others to know, just because.

The beautiful end product.

As you can see, it's mostly girls who are working hard. The men in the society are mainly 'sleeping members'.

The whole afternoon turned out really fun. It was like a mini bazaar where all the booths were trying to sell chickens for a dollar. 'CHICKENNN!!! ONE DOLLA ONLY!!!'

Our market strategy, making attrative signs. It was as if it wrote 'CHICKEN MADE IN EUROPE'

We had to play sales when people looked as if they were interested in joining our society, 'If you buy our chicken, it will guarantee you live till a hundred, no kid!' And for those who weren't interested, 'Just buy our chicken, just try, you won't regret, come on lah!' Then there were those who joined other clubs/societies already, 'Why you buy chicken from that booth? Later got food poisoning. I ask you, what for you buy the chicken from that kampung when you can buy the awesome eggs made from USA here?'

Thinking that my young chicken-selling apprentices were ready to pounce on the prospective customers by themselves, I went off to survey our competition. Here are the few contenders:

Diyana at the Karate booth.

'Buy one chicken, get a white belt and a laptop for free!'

Afifah at the table-tennis booth while Ridha at the tennis booth.

'Buy one get one free.'

Apparently their market slogan is 'You can't spell cool without pool'. Ya... sure...

My sister club. M1

'Run for your life, bring a chicken along.'

Iskandar, Fizh and Halim at the Fencing booth.

'BUY OUR CHICKENNNNNNN!' while literally standing on the chairs and flailing their arms about.

There's two more clubs which I guess should be worth mentioning.

The choir club, which I think is annoying because they sing everywhere in school whenever a few of them happen to meet up. They did have a good marketing strategy though, I must say. They were singing about chickens. If I was a singer, I might have joined, but I am not. Plus I am annoyed by the members.

Then there was the Kendo club, which we were unfortunately place opposite to. What they did was show a freaking cock fight in the middle of the walkway. Let me inform those who are not familiar with the campus grounds that the walkway at the foyer is not very large. The whole place was filled with students. How dense can they get? Waving their bamboo sticks about and making loud noises, they could have really hurt someone! I don't have a problem with its members (except that one obnoxious guy), I just don't think that they should display kendo-ism (or whatever the noun is) in the middle of the way. And this is so not the first time. It's the second time actually that I unwillingly witnessed their cock fights. Imagine how many times it happened when I'm not there to count. I officially hate Kendo, well, just the members actually.

Part III

Ridha and I went to the UK exhibition at Rizqun after the ECA promotion day. It was sort of a rush rush situation because the promo day didn't end until 4.30. We went over our limit of 30 new members and got around 45 juniors and around 30 seniors (we weren't suppose to accept seniors, btw).

It looked really sophisticated and all, with the booths selling salad, rather than chicken. I went about and found out that some of the universities that I was interested in didn't offer the course I wanted at all (media). I didn't get to see all the unis because there were quite a lot of people, so that was a bust.

Speaking of bust, Ridha told me to look at a woman's boobs while we were walking about. I was like, 'Where? What are you talking about?' 'Over there, at the table.'

Then I saw this Caucasian lady, a representative for this particular uni and saw her boobs. She was sitting down explaining something to a parent and student and one of her boob was plopped on the table surface. Ya, it was big, like a basketball...

Oh my god, they are big.' 'Haha, I don't think that guy is concentrating on what she's saying.'

Moving on... haha...

Most of the unis ran out of prospectus so I was a little disappointed. At least I got a cool pink pen!

Part IV

On the last day of school, the Senior History students acted out 3 sketches for the Junior History students. They are so lucky that we let them have a glimpse of a fun side of History. No one ever did that for us. History is so boring for us...

I was busy with other commitments so I didn't go to any rehersals, except for the last one during lunch right before the actual play. I played a French missionary in Vietnam and had only a few lines. I didn't even need a script, my natural acting instincts took over and made me worthy for an Oscar. I was THAT good. I had to do this begging scene and bruised my knee from harshly falling on the floor to beg many times. That is how committed I am. Someone hand me my award now!

During rehersal and before the play, everyone was... how do I say this... babooning around.

I went to the first floor to take pictures. It was freaky because I've never been upstairs before (only boys went up during assemblies), and it was deserted so it was real creepy. There were doors that weren't locked but were difficult to open with weird generator sounds coming out. Perfect place to film a horror flick.

Part V

One day during Math class, Amal asked me 'Hey Jo, did u get the answer XXX?' I replied, 'No...' Then Fadilah suddenly said, 'Amal, inda kau sadar kalau Si Jo cakap no, macam nooooo.....' as in saying that I enlongate my 'Nos'. Then she introduced me to Russell Peters. I never heard of him so I just watched him this afternoon on You Tube and found out where she got the 'Noooooo' from. Fadilah racist lah! HAHA
