Award Ceremony Day In Maktab Duli
On 2007-01-18 at 8:47 p.m.

Today was a good day for some 70 students. We were given awards for good achievement, some got more than one because they are smarter than average people, hehe. Yours truly got one, which is Best Result for Literature in English. *proud*

I still haven't finished my essay (yes, I'm stilling working on it. Ironic how I got an award for Lit when my Lit homeowork is a month overdue) so there won't be any pictures. I'll post them up next time. The prizes were cool, Teacher Salawati told me that they were engraved overseas.

When I got up to the stage it was so fun. People were taking pictures, actually, my dad only, haha. Then I heard people clapping FOR ME! It wasn't those 'we-don't-know-her-but-she's-smart-so-let's-just-clap' type of boring clap. It was those 'oh-my-god-it's-jo-let's-clap-and-go-whoop-whoop' type of clap, haha. Actually, I think it was Fifah and Helwa's whoop-whoop I heard, that, or I was just hearing the echoes from the stage.

Rozana got TWO awards! Congrats to her!
Shao Mei got TWO awards! Congrats to her! And I think my dad took your pictures as well so you might be lucky.
Lu Wee got AN award! Congrats to her!
Effene got AN award! Congrats to her! You actually have your NAME engraved on yours!

Then there's a girl who got SO many awards. It think it's worth mentioning her name, Stella... erm, somthing. She'll be appearing in the newspaper because she's so bloody smart! Her family must be so damn happy, cannot stop smiling and having a smug face in front of other parents, haha. Not that I know.

The whole event was very nicely organised, have to hand it to the organising committee. But I could say that the MC or presenter could have been better. Helwa and I were at the rehersal and it was as if she read my mind when she was talking about the presenters. We were like, 'er, ohk, they're the emcees? Yea, I think we could do better. Not bad, but... just not natural.' And there were a few slip ups by the girls, only a few, though. I think they were nervous or something.

BUT!!!

One thing that's bugging me is the people who were sitting behind me during the ceremony. This is the main reason why I'm blogging now, because I am kind of pissed with their behaviour. It was towards the end of the ceremony and one of the MPs/Prefect (I can't exactly tell the difference) was reading the prayer.

Oh my god, the guys and girls were so annonying. When someone is reading the prayers, your supposed to either, a) pray along if you're Muslim, or b) keep quiet to show respect.

Those uncivilised barbarians were talking non-stop throughout the whole prayer. They were like, 'Oh my god... I want your fountain pen... eee...so cool... I like that wan... how come ah....teeheehee... aiyer... so cool... you know wat movie i see last night?... wah u got two ah...blah de blah blah.'

It's one of those moments when you are annoyed but you think maybe they'll stop talking in 3 seconds so you let them off. I SO wanted to tell them to shut up. I kept giving them 3 seconds because I thought the prayer wasn't going to be long. I don't want to be telling them off the same time the prayer ends and then everyone is back to talking, so me telling them off would have been useless. But they DIDN'T STOP talking AT ALL!

It would have been understandable if they talk about important things like, 'oh, this prayer is important... oh no, my phone is ringing... wah, your brother is so hot... my butt hurts.' But no, they were talking about useless things derived from their pride from getting awards, they seem to have forgotten common courtesy, that or they never had them. One of the girls was talking so loudly about a Chinese series before the start of the ceremony, so that sparked off a bit of my intolerance already.

I mean, I'm not Muslim but at least I know how to behave appropriately. I assume that they are actually smart since they did receive awards. But it's as if they live in their own little world or something.

I could imagine myself giving them ONE BIG SLAP from left to right all at one go.

SSSSLLLLAAAAPPPP

And if I don't reach the last person on the right I could give another BIG SLAP from the right.

PPPPAAAALLLLSSSS

When going out from the auditorium for the photo session, they were close by and I just said to Helwa REALLY LOUDLY how disrespectful and annoying the people behind me were, hoping that they would hear. But my voice very soft lah. Hehe, I'm actually a very soft-spoken girl :->.

I hope this public shaming will teach them a lesson. Ignorant sods.

How public? Well, I don't know who they are because I saw them but don't know them. One of the guys is in my tutor group but I'll spare mentioning his name or else his gang come and beat me up (in that case I can pepper-spray them). All I know is that they are Chinese boys and girls with St Andrew's School origins. That's enough publicity, friends who read my blog should be able to tell who they are.

I think Mr Law (my group tutor) was right when he said, 'Those noisy girls ah, must be from STPRI one. If boys ah, must be from St Andrew's one.'

Three words. Uncultured brainy preteens.

PS. Anyone notice how the Excellent Overall Results awards were given to only Science students? Hm... bias much?
